Vondie Curtis-Hall (born September 30, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan, USA) is an American actor, writer and director who is best known for his recurring roles on shows such as "Chicago Hope", "ER", "Soul Food" and "Chasing Life" as well as being an accomplished film and telefilm director and writer. His film roles include Coming to America, Mystery Train, Heat Wave, Die Hard 2 (with Bruce Willis), One Good Cop (with Tony Plana), The Mambo Kings, Passion Fish (with Angela Bassett), Sugar Hill, Crooklyn, Clear and Present Danger (with Harrison Ford and Willem Dafoe), Broken Arrow (with John Travolta and Christian Slater), Romeo + Juliet (with John Leguizamo and Harold Perrineau), Gridlock'd (which he also wrote and directed), Eve's Bayou (with Samuel L. Jackson), Turn It Up, Talk to Me (with Don Cheadle), Honeydripper, Life Is Hot in Cracktown (again with Plana), The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans (with Nicolas Cage) and Black Nativity (with Forest Whitaker). Other directing and writing credits include 2001's Glitter (which later became a RiffTrax experiment) and 2006's Waist Deep (with Tyrese Gibson).
