RiffTrax- movie riffing target Nick Nolte

Nick Nolte

Nicholas King "Nick" Nolte (born February 8, 1941 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA) is an American actor. He has been nominated for three Academy Awards, twice for Best Actor and once for Best Supporting Actor. He was named People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive in 1992.

He has appeared in many films, including The Deep (1977), 48 Hrs. (1982) and its sequel, Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1986), The Prince of Tides (1991), Cape Fear (1991, with Joe Don Baker), Lorenzo's Oil (1992), Affliction (1997, with Willem Dafoe), The Thin Red Line (1998, with George Clooney and John Travolta), Hulk (2003), Hotel Rwanda (2004), Tropic Thunder (2008, with Tom Cruise) and Warrior (2011).

Nolte has yet to appear in any of the movies riffed on Mystery Science Theater 3000, but he has been frequently referenced in many RiffTrax releases. Mike Nelson often does an unflattering impression of Nolte during these productions. Patton Oswalt also did an impression of Nolte in his stand-up act in which Oswalt speculates how Nolte might have played the character Han Solo (which he auditioned for) if he had been cast in the film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Nolte later voiced a character in the Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian. Nolte partially inspired the character Friar Nolte that Oswalt played during Episode #1313.

In 2023, the writers of RiffTrax collaborated on the novel The Naked Clone - A Nick Nolte Mystery, in which a fictionalized version of Nolte acts as a detective.
