James Earl Jones (born 1931) is an acclaimed theater and movie actor, best known for The Great White Hope, Cry, the Beloved Country, Field of Dreams, Best of the Best (with Eric Roberts), the Jack Ryan franchise (Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger) and for recurring TV roles on Homicide: Life on the Street and Under One Roof.
He made his debut in Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb!. In 2012, he received the Academy Honorary Award in recognition of his long and varied career in films. In 2022, Broadway's Cort Theater was renamed after him.
Arguably his most famous role is as the voice of villain Darth Vader in many of the Star Wars films (all of which later became RiffTrax presentations).
