Track of the Moon Beast is a 1976 science-fiction/horror film that was directed by Richard Ashe.
Plot[]
Paul Carlson, a grad-student mineralogist gets a small fragment of moon rock embedded in his brain during a meteor shower. When the moon is full, he transforms into a seven-foot bipedal lizard and starts eating people.
The authorities call in local anthropologist Professor Johnny Longbow, an expert in Navajo legends and other things. Longbow, a good friend of Paul, realizes that the terrible manifestation of a Navajo legend has occurred, and he is the only one who can stop Paul's killings.

- Shot in September 1972, this film went unreleased for 4 years due to lacking a distributor. It eventually went straight to television without a theatrical release.
- Co-writer Bill Finger was a long-time comic book writer and was instrumental in creating many elements of the Batman mythos.
- Bill Finger and Charles Sinclair reportedly wrote the script in a weekend.
- The song "California Lady" is an original composition by singer Frank Larrabee. He and his band performed the song at a local hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico where the film crew was staying. A full studio version of the song can be found here.
