RiffTrax- Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg

Steven Allan Spielberg (born December 18, 1946) is an American director, producer and screenwriter. Spielberg is considered one of the pioneers of the New Hollywood era, as well as being one of the most influential directors and producers in film history. He is often mentioned among the biggest audience favorite filmmakers along with Francis Ford Coppola, Woody Allen, Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese and George Lucas. Spielberg also often works with some of the best artists in their respective field, including acclaimed film composer John Williams and cinematographer Janusz Kaminski.

In a career spanning more than four decades, Spielberg's films have covered many themes and genres. Spielberg's early science-fiction, drama, mystery and adventure films became archetypes of modern Hollywood blockbuster filmmaking. In later years, his films began addressing humanistic issues such as the Holocaust (Schindler's List, for which he won an Academy Award), the transatlantic slave trade (Amistad), war (Empire of the Sun, Saving Private Ryan, and War Horse), and terrorism (Munich). He is one of the co-founders of DreamWorks Studios and also produces material for film and television through his Amblin Entertainment production company.

The MST3K crew has claimed that Spielberg is a fan of the show and he and his films have been referenced many times. When RiffTrax began to take on various blockbusters, Spielberg's films were among those used.
