Morgan Freeman (born June 1, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee, USA) is an American actor, film director, and narrator. Freeman has received Academy Award nominations for his performances in Street Smart, Driving Miss Daisy, The Shawshank Redemption and Invictus and won in 2005 for Million Dollar Baby.

Freeman has appeared in many other box office hits, including Glory, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven (with Gene Hackman), Se7en (with Henry Kingi), The Sum of All Fears (with Ben Affleck), Bruce Almighty, the Alex Cross mystery adaptations Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider, Dolphin Tale 1 and 2, The Dark Knight trilogy (with Christian Bale and Gary Oldman), RED (with Bruce Willis), Oblivion (with Tom Cruise), the Olympus Has Fallen franchise, and Now You See Me. He also narrated the award-winning and acclaimed documentary film March of the Penguins.

  • Early in his acting career, Morgan Freeman was a member of the cast of the public television series The Electric Company, which focused on developing the reading skills of its viewers.
