In 1966, a television series inspired by the Batman comic book debuted. It was immediately popular and had a lasting affect on the cultural landscape.

The series starred Adam West as Batman, and featured Burgess Meredith in a recurring role as the villain the Penguin. It ran for 3 seasons and resulted in a feature film as well.
